Artist Cinthia Pérez Navarro, passionate about empowering the collective and community wellness, discusses her artistic work and how it is grounded in deep listening - from her work as a member of binational, multidisciplinary Chicken Bank Collective to her work as a somatic educator and as an organizer for the local contact improvisation community in Cholula, Puebla, Mexico.

Cinthia Pérez Navarro is a dancer, teacher, and independent performance maker originally from Puebla, Mexico. She also works as a Somatic Movement Educator for the Body Mind Movement school in México, is a Somatic Movement Educator at Mexico’s Body Mind Movement School, works for the Centro de Estudios Superiores Sisti teaching dance to undergraduates, and is the head of Contemporary Dance at the IBERO Talleres Artísticos Puebla. Additionally, Cinthia is a member of the bi-national, interdisciplinary collective Chicken Bank and the performance collective XIP, where she co-creates contemporary theater works for the stage. She also coordinates RISOMA Retiro CI México and jams for Puebla’s contact improvisation community.

"In this image I find myself exploring a premise offered at random by my colleague Paty Solorzano, where I weave threads from my navel to a mirror, from there the dance unfolds between the fascia of my limbs navigating, fluctuating through space."
Quimera Táctil - Cápsula Audiovisual 2021, Dirección Cinthia Pérez Navarro en colaboración con les estudiantes de Licenciatura en Danza de la Universidad de las Américas Puebla como parte de los resultados de la Residencia Artística con Danza UDLAP. “Cápsula Audiovisual reveals small vignettes that allude to the continuous process of going through the recurrent dystopia. Listening and weaving those cross-border threads that unite us, despite the different latitude and the evident distance in which we live. An invitation to embrace the immediate reality of solitude and resignify our own spaces, awakening that warm look that roots me and simultaneously accompanies the other.”
